Abstract:Discusses the problems which arise in the process of thoroughly revising an existing, widely-accepted text. There are three reasons for a revision: (1) changes in the language; (2) inadequacy of existing version; and (3) greater knowledge of the sources. Decisions must be made concerning when the text is to be revised, who will sit on the committee, determining the nature and extent of the revision, and the role and use of marginal helps.
